Disney’s Small World Ride Going Bigger
Disneyland’s small world ride is going to be closed for almost a year beginning in January for refurbishing or in other words: the ride isn’t built to accommodate today’s average passengers’ body weights. There you have it. Obesity yet again, taking over the Anaheim Disneyland.
The problem is the ride was designed and built in 1963 on the assumption that the male adult riders would average 175 pounds and the women about 135. But things have drastically changed over the years. The Small World ride now must accommodate adults who frequently weigh north of 200 pounds, which it often cannot do.
