Dancing Homeless Man To Become Fashion Icon?
At least that’s what three 20 somethings from Los Angeles think.
John Wesley Jermyn is a homeless man that is known for his dancing and roller skating in the area of west L.A. Often spotted on L.A.’s Robertson Blvd, he got nicknamed "The Crazy Robertson" and "The Robertson Dancer".
So the founders of a new clothing line with the same name, "The Crazy Robertson" brand, thought they spotted a trend and put stylized images of Mr. Jermyn on their clothes. You may think this would be a fantastic opportunity for a homeless guy but what many people don’t know is that Jermyn suffers from schizophrenia.
After months of trying to get his approval for their fashion label, he apparently signed a contract entitling him to a mere of 5% of the net profit generated from sales of "The Crazy Robertson" clothes. The thing that bothers his sister and many other people is that no lawyer, friend or family member was consulted.
Doesn’t this sound like exploitation? It does to me. The label reportedly hasn’t made much profit yet but Jermyn has already received "several small payments" in the forms of food, liquor, etc., because he apparently dislikes dealing with money.
