Lawyer: raped girl was "glad for the attention"
A teenage girl who claims she was gang raped by three 13-year-old schoolboys was overweight and would have been “glad of the attentionâ€, a barrister told a jury.
The 16-year-old and her friend told a court the boys mugged them for their phones then raped them repeatedly in a park while filming the ordeal on a mobile.
But lawyer Sheilagh Davies, acting for one of the defendants, said the girls consented to sex “maybe to gain attention, maybe to gain affectionâ€
And it continues…
The barrister added: “She was 12st 6lb – not quite the swan she may turn into. She may well have been glad of the attention.â€
The court was told the boys, who are too young to be named, were vandalising a 261 bus heading from Bromley to Lewisham before they accosted the two girls and robbed them.
They allegedly followed the girls into Churchdown, Bromley, and said: “Give us a b***job if you want your phones back.†After the attack, the boys warned the girls they would be killed if they called police, jurors were told.
The defendants, all from Catford, variously deny a 12-count indictment including robbery, rape, attempted rape and sexual assault. The case at Inner London Crown Court continues.
