Fast food is not bad for you, it’s the type of food you eat that is. When talking about fast food, people usually think of McDonald’s, Burger King and the likes.
The British food watchdog is now stepping in and urging fast-food restaurants to add calorie information to their menus.
High levels of salt, fat, sugar, ect.. should also be labelled and noted appropriately.
Men in Britain now get a quarter of their food energy intake outside the home, while women get 21%. A number of chains, including KFC, Starbucks and McDonald’s, already offer nutritional information on websites or leaflets, but now the catering industry will be expected to go far further. Officials at the agency hinted that if the calorie counting was a success, the drive for information could see an extension of the traffic light scheme, which applies to food sold in stores for home cooking and consumption. Red labels suggest levels of salt, sugar or fats are too high, amber shows they are at medium level and green at a low level. The calorie counting might also reduce portion sizes.
I doubt it will change people’s eating habit and make them refrain from indulging in too much junk food.

Times are tough and money is tight. As the credit crunch is taking it’s toll, many businesses are forced to shut down for good. Those who are lucky enough to have survived so far, will certainly have to step up their game to stay open. Especially online businesses.
If you’re making an income on a website you are one of the very few lucky ones. For most people earning online is just wishful thinking.
As any professional certainly knows, making money through the Internet does take a lot of determination, knowledge and patience. Another crucial factor for any successful website is the hosting.
In order to look professional, approachable and trustworthy, businesses will hardly go for sponsored/free domains. In order to have a good Internet presence, a good hosting plan is necessary.
One of the best sites I have come across to compare hosting providers is WebHostingGeeks.com. I’ve only just recently discovered their directory of green hosting providers which is a fantastic section that provides plenty of eco friendly hosts.
The site provides overall a massive amount of information on the best hosts on the Internet. Whether you want to have a look at the best budget hosting com or the best possible choices for a forum. There’s tons of rankings and description that can help you a great deal when it comes to picking out the right hosting company and plan for your needs.

Getting greasy with bacon fat is not really my idea of pampering. Nonetheless, Blogadilla.com posted an interesting recipe to whip up your very own and very real bacon soap:
Supplies
• Bacon fat
• 100% Lye (sodium hydroxide)
• Purified water and ice
• Liquid smoke (optional fragrance)
• Red food coloring (optional coloring)
• Stove
• Pyrex baking pan
• Chemical/solvent/heat resistant plastic bowl
• Measuring cup
• Cotton cloth or paper towels
• Wooden (or stainless steel) spoon
• Rubber gloves and goggles
• Metal can
• 1 cigarette
This recipe is a basic soap recipe.
• 7.5 parts bacon fat
• 1 part lye
• 2 parts water
A). Melt the bacon fat on the stove. Do not get it too hot (not boiling/sizzling – very dangerous).
B). Skim off any particles or debris that float to the surface of the melted bacon fat.
C). Pour the melted bacon fat through cloth or paper towels into a large clean metal can (see photo), this will further filter the bacon fat.
D). Still warm, your bacon fat should now look uniform, clear, and junk free. Measure your bacon fat and calculate the proper amount of lye (1 part lye to 7.5 parts bacon fat).
The end result looks very much like bacon. I would assume it smells a lot like bacon as well.
So yeah, interesting, I’ll be sticking to lavender and aloe vera though.

Boing Boing is one of my favourite blogs and I usually check it’s RSS feeds on a regular basis.
One of the posts that caught my eye today was entitled “Ghost pigeon photos”. nfttu.blogspot.com posted something rather strange but beautiful I have to agree. There is a lot of tragedy in these pictures:
Recently, I’ve become aware of what I call “ghost pigeons, ” the imprint a pigeon makes on a glass window of a building when it unwittingly flies into it. They are spooky and depressing and kind of pretty all at the same time.
Most people would have never noticed.
